White Laminate Flooring FAQs

How to install white laminate flooring

Before laying your laminate, leave your boards to acclimatise for at least 48 hours. Then, after installing your underlay, begin laying your laminate parallel to the longest wall in your room. Click each board into place, ensuring you stagger your joints for added stability and visual appeal. For more information, see our laminate installation guide.

If you’re not confident in your DIY skills or just want a professional finish, we can arrange a team of independent fitters to install your new white laminate flooring for you – just let us know you’re interested when you place your order.

How do I prepare my subfloor for white laminate?

Your subfloor needs to be clean, even, and dry before you begin to install your laminate, as irregularities can damage your boards. You’ll also need to install an appropriate layer of underlay to provide cushioning for your white laminate flooring.

How can I care for my new white laminate flooring?

White laminate is easy to clean and maintain, which is lucky as white laminate will show up any dirt or marks more obviously than darker floors. Make sure to vacuum or sweep any loose dirt and debris regularly, then use a lightly damp mop and a suitable cleaning solution to remove marks and stains. Avoid using excessive amounts of water, as moisture can damage your laminate flooring.

Our laminate care guide covers everything you need to know to keep your floors in optimal condition.

Is white laminate suitable for kitchens?

As laminate is a wood-based floor, it's not the best choice for areas with high moisture potential like kitchens because the wood can warp if it comes into contact with water, and white laminate is so light that any marks or stains would be more obvious. Saying that, we do offer a selection of water-resistant laminate that would be fine to use in a kitchen – just make sure you keep on top of any spills!
