Botanical prints are always in fashion in some form, and floral carpet always works with traditional interiors. To give your floral carpet a fresh update and avoid the overly chintzy look, keep the rest of the upholstery and soft furnishings pared back. A floral patterned carpet looks good next to antique furniture, dark woods and brass accents. Stick to a simple colour palette in similar tones to the carpet and let the floral pattern be the focus. Bedrooms and living rooms suit floral carpet because they’re quieter spaces, so subtle patterns like florals blend in nicely. Choose a floral carpet in soft colours like French blue and cream to keep the space feeling relaxed. Floral carpet also works well in hallways and stairs but here you can afford to choose a much bolder colour or busier floral print to create a grand entrance to your home.
Like any patterned carpet, floral carpet is great at hiding stains, especially if you select one with a dark coloured background. Whether caused by mud from outdoor shoes, paw prints from the dog, or a melted blob of chocolate, most stains will camouflage into the swirls and blooms of the flowers on the carpet until you’re able to clean it.
